Meet Colleen Orton
She began college on an engineering track. Then the health of both of her maternal grandparents declined quickly, and she watched her mother balance a demanding career with caring for them. It showed her how closely work and health are tied, and it gave her a question she still works on today.
“How do I help others to not experience this for themselves and their own families?”
She changed her major to Health Promotion and Education at Weber State University, worked full time to pay for school and interned with Weber State's Employee Wellness Program. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Health Education at the University of Utah, where her research focused on reducing stress and building trust in the workplace.
She founded Beyond Health while completing her master's degree, starting with health education and disease prevention programs for small and medium-sized organizations.
